Shot Sleeve Reconditioners

Designed exclusively for the purpose of in house reworking of Die Casting cold chambers, the HYDRA-HONE has proven to be an effective tool for maintaining a sound shot sleeve program.

Review if you will, the unique engineering designed into each machine with regards to a vertically operated machine that utilizes hydraulics to perform the reciprocal and rotational movement of the honing mechanism.

Vertical hydraulic honing machines require less floor space, provide greater flexibility with regards to work size, reduce the number of honing fixtures, and are extremely reliable due to the limited number of working parts associated with the machine.

System effectiveness, reliability, and performance is maximized through the incorporation of dual HYDRAULIC systems that perform all of the honing functions. The reciprocal and rotational actions of the machine are controlled independently through the utilization of TWO separate hydraulic systems.

System management, control, and safety features are maximized through the use of an Allen Bradley MicroLogics PLC. The Allen Bradley MicroView interfacing display provides operator interfacing, system setup, and process monitoring.

Versatility, with regards to ease of machine setup, ease of change over from one sleeve size to another, ease of operation, and ease of machine maintenance, is accomplished with effective engineering and machine construction.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS

1. Structural Design includes a 3x2 inch heavy tubular steel frame 100% welded as required, HRS hydraulic reservoir, cold and hot rolled plates for sleeve and honing motor retention and a 4x4 inch angular iron base.
2. Adjustable V-Block Assembly and Adjustable Honing Motor Drive provides position adjustment for sleeves from 3 to 8 inch OD.
3. Magnetic Limit Switch Positioning allows the user to make any honing stroke adjustment within the tolerance of the machine.
4. Independent Hydraulic Systems control the reciprocal and rotational functions of the machine, with regards to feed rates and hydraulic pressure settings.
5. Machine Control and Process Monitoring is managed by an Allen Bradley MicroLine 1000 PLC coupled to an Allen Bradley Micro View operators interface.
6. Reciprocal Feed Monitoring and Stroke Count Programming is provided by the panel mounted Micro View.
7. Continuous Monitoring of the dual hydraulic systems is provided by dual pressure gauges mounted on the systems hydraulic manifold.
8. Over Torque and Under Torque honing head protection is provided through the honing pressure supervisory system.
9. High Output Honing Fluid recirculation system and adjustable output nozzle for delivery of the honing fluid with in the sleeve ID.
10. Panel mounted Indicator Lights and an Audible/Visual Alarm which activate upon shut down.

Manufactured with only top QUALITY component parts and construction methods, the HYDRA-HONE is built to provide its user many years of effective service.

The standard system is equipped with the following features; however, optional features are available.

1. The standard honing stroke of the machine is 28 inches with a machine height 6 foot 6 inches. Larger machines are available ( See Options ).
2. All machines can be preset to allow from 1 to 99 honing cycles before automatically shutting down.
3. The Systems Electrical Package consists of:
   1. An Allen Bradley MicroLine 1000 PLC (32 I/0).
   2. The Allen Bradley Micro View Programmer/Monitor.
   3. Indicator Lights to display the machines shut down functions as it occurs (Low/High PSI & Count).
   4. An Under Torque and Over Torque Protection Device which shuts the machine down if a Non Productive Torque or dangerous High Torque is reached with regards to the honing head.
4. An Audible/Visual Alarm Beacon that is provided to alert the operator to a system shut down condition.
5. Each machine is shipped complete, calibrated, and fully tested. Each machine includes an easily understood instruction manual which includes:
   1. Complete Installation Instructions.
   2. Machine Operational Guide.
   3. Trouble Shooters Guide.
   4. Electrical and Hydraulic Schematic.
   5. Component Part Break Downs.
   6. Component Part List.
