Refractometer

FOR CONSTANT AWARENESS OF LUBE RATIO

The Refractometer operates by measuring the refractive index of the liquid and converting this value to Brix percentage.  This is done by monitoring how much light is reflected off the inner surface, as opposed to being absorbed by the liquid.  As concentration changes, so does the refractive index.  This is especially useful for water-based coolants.

By utilizing an innovative wide area light method, the Refractometer is able to provide consistent and stable detention in harsh conditions.  The wide area light ensures that bubbles and dirt on the lens do not affect detection.  The surface is also rugged and resistant to scratching from particles that may be in the liquid.

The Refractometer features a large three-color indicator light.  This indicator can display the concentration status, as well alert operators to unseen issues in the tank or pipe.  By looking at the display, it is even easier to understand the current situation with all the necessary information on one screen. i.e. temperature, low water, and dirty.

Why Use Refractometer?

When using an overly concentrated ratio, too much lube will be used considering your spray volume hasn’t changed.  Or, using an excessively diluted ratio will lead to too much friction causing bad parts.  In either case, improper ratio’s are an expensive proposition and is the sole reason of having a desired ratio.

Dilution ratio’s can change due to hard water, a pump issue, hose blockage, or evaporation.  Also, an incorrect ratio can indicate an unexplained setting change or just a faulty mixing system.

The Refractometer displays the Brix rating for constant awareness of current ratio and displays or sounds alarm if outside the high and low limits.  The rating also can be displayed on the HMI screen when using system with this technology.

In-line installation is used for recirculation (under pressure) systems (Pro Mix V), or a simple probe into the lube for open tank system (ProMix I).  However, the device can be used wherever a fluid is present, such as in a reclamation system (Reclaim Pro).  By testing the lubricant after reclaiming, it gives you a chance to correct the ratio prior to reuse.

The Refractometer can be used on synthetic lubricants or coolants, but not graphite.
